On January 8-9, 2025, the Center of Asian Research on Water (CARE-RESCIF) successfully organized the Scientific Day 2024 at Hall A4, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT).
Scientific Day 2024 welcomed participation from distinguished guests, including Mr. Andrea Taglioni, Science and Academic Cooperation Attaché of the French Embassy. The event was honored to welcome Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tran Vu, Vice President of HCMUT, alongside representatives from various faculties, departments, laboratories of HCMUT, and numerous leading scientists, experts, and speakers who participated both in person and virtually, presenting high-quality research contributions.
Scientific Day 2024 is the 7th annual event of CARE-RESCIF, which is a platform to review the center's activities and achievements over the past year while fostering collaboration among scholars, researchers, and environmental organizations. Participants exchanged knowledge, strengthened academic connections, and discussed solutions for water protection, resource management, and sustainable environmental development-objectives that CARE has long pursued. The Scientific Day 2024 presentations covered critical topics such as: Water circulation in natural systems; pollution and pollution control; coastal hydrological hazards; vulnerability and resilience strategies.
This year's Scientific Day 2024 also highlighted international cooperation, bringing together researchers and environmental organizations worldwide. The event facilitated idea exchange, strengthened partnerships, and explored solutions for pressing environmental challenges. The discussions underscored the importance of finding green and sustainable solutions to mitigate the increasing impacts of climate change.
Moving into its next research phase, CARE-RESCIF is prioritizing new research directions, such as pollution control through meteorological monitoring and pollution mapping. Additionally, the number of long-term international experts working at CARE is set to double, with four experts committed to working at CARE for at least two to five years in the upcoming period. Scientific Day 2024 not only celebrated past successes but also paved the way for future advancements in sustainable water research.
