Nearly two years after the PLUME Vietnam oceanographic campaign, a post-campaign meeting was held in Hanoi on April 14 and 15, 2026. The event brought together Vietnamese and French scientists to share major findings, discuss upcoming publications, and mark an important milestone in bilateral scientific cooperation.
Conducted from May 28 to July 11, 2024, the PLUME Vietnam campaign focused on particle transport along rivers and its impact on coastal ecosystems. The project brought together Vietnamese and French researchers, including joint fieldwork aboard the French research vessel Antea, contributing to a better understanding of river–coast interactions and environmental processes in Vietnam.
The meeting was organized by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environment (ISTEE), as part of the “Living with Rivers” (Vivre avec les fleuves) program, with support from the Embassy of France in Vietnam and the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD).
Over the two-day meeting, scientists and partners presented initial results and engaged in discussions across a wide range of topics, including biogeochemistry, ocean dynamics, microbiology, ecology, modeling, contaminant geochemistry, and data management. Representing CARE, Dr. Nicolas Jourdain and Dr. Nguyen Truong An presented their research at the meeting.
The meeting reinforced partnerships and encouraged future collaborative research within the PLUME project
