The PM2.5 intercomparison campaign officially started on Tuesday, October 8, at 8:00 a.m., marking the beginning of a one-month field experiment in Ho Chi Minh City. This initiative, led by the Centre of Asian Research on watEr (CARE), reflects the strengthened collaboration between the Faculty of Environment - VNUHCM - University of Science and the Institut des Géosciences de l'Environnement (IGE, Grenoble, France).
The campaign also benefits from a partnership with nke Instrumentation, which has provided the compact OSTARA air quality monitoring station - tested here for the first time under humid tropical conditions.
The campaign aims to:
Assess the performance of low-cost PM2.5 sensors developed by Magnasci by comparing them with reference instruments, including a gravimetric sampler and a DustTrak II 8530;
Evaluate the robustness of the OSTARA (NKE) compact station in tropical environments.
Through this study, the research teams contribute to a critical public health challenge: improving the understanding and monitoring of urban exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) - a key component of air pollution linked to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
CARE extends its sincere thanks to all the dedicated teams from CARE, the Faculty of Environment - HCMUS, IGE, and nke Instrumentation for their collaboration, expertise, and trust throughout this joint effort.
On 22/10/2015, CARE has organized the meeting of the Scientific Council with the chairmanship of Dr. Nicolas Gratiot - Director and Chairman of the Scientific Council, Assoc. Pro. Vo Le Phu (on behalf of Assoc. Pro. Nguyen Phuoc Dan - Deputy Chairman)
