On June 9, 2026, CARE organized a seminar highlighting the work of students who are conducting their research under the supervision of CARE researchers. Three presentations offered distinct perspectives.
Trần Khánh Linh and Bùi Nam Sang (4 th -year students in BA in Geography, specialization Cartography, Remote Sensing and GIS, Department of Geography, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities), co-supervised by Assoc. Prof. Ngô Thị Thu Trang and Dr. Sebastien Hardy, explored the multiple infrastructures scattered in various locations that make up what is now called the port of Ho Chi Minh City. To do this, they created a georeferenced database with numerous quantitative and qualitative attributes. In conjunction with the other CARE working groups, their results will allow, in a next step, reflection on the elements of the port operations in Ho Chi Minh City that could be damaged by the rise in sea level and by the sedimentation of the canals caused by climate change in southern Vietnam.
Luz Duchowney (1 st year Master's student in GAED at Universite Paris Cite, co-supervised by Pauline Gluski of UMR PRODIG and Dr. Olivier Finance of UMR Geographies-Cites) presented her work on structuring the CARE georeferenced database to foster multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research. Beyond facilitating data sharing within the CARE members, this initiative has the potential to support evidence-based public decision-making and improve the accessibility and visibility of research data through DOI attribution.
Laura Chataigner (PhD student at Université Paris Cite, supervised by Dr. Sylvie Fanchette of UMR CESSMA) shared the first findings from her doctoral research on Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. Her work examines how local populations live in, perceive, and narrate their relationships with aquatic territories in the lower Mekong region.
CARE would like to thank our presenters for the quality of their research, their commitment, and their valuable contributions to CARE's scientific activities.
