On Friday, February 14, 2025, the Asian Water Research Center (CARE-RESCIF) was pleased to welcome the delegation of students from the Marguerite Duras French International School (LFI Duras). The representative of CARE, Frédéric Cazenave (Deputy Scientific Director of CARE), warmly received the delegation.
To start the visit, Dr. Frédéric Cazenave and Dr. Sébastien Hardy (Researcher at IRD) provided an overview of CARE-RESCIF, introducing its mission and key research areas. They highlighted the center's focus on water research, environmental protection, and sustainable development, as well as its ongoing research projects and training programs designed to support students and professionals in water and environmental sciences.
Following the introduction, students from various grade levels presented creative projects aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable development, with a particular focus on recycling and bamboo paper production. Their projects introduced innovative approaches to paper production by integrating smart technology with natural materials. Notable ideas included smart recycling bins, automated paper dryers, and bamboo cellulose extraction systems, all designed to enhance the recycling process while fostering environmental consciousness among students. After the presentations, the students had the opportunity to tour the CARE building and research facilities, gaining first-hand insight into real-world scientific work.
Beyond showcasing their creativity, the students demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability. Their passion and innovative thinking highlight the crucial role that the younger generation can play in environmental protection through science and technology. With further development, these ideas have the potential to evolve into practical solutions for waste reduction and resource efficiency.
CARE-RESCIF looks forward to continuing its engagement with educational institutions like LFI Duras to inspire future scientists and innovators.
