On the third December 2015, in the framework of the project on coastal erosion, in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), French and Vietnamese experts had a meeting on "The study of morphological characteristics of bay and solutions to revitalize and upgrade Nha Trang beach, Khanh Hoa province, taking into account the impact of climate change ".
This is one of activities of the Joint Project between Vietnamese and French governments with a budget funded by the French side. Scientists are conducting data collection, evaluation of the waterfront development and studying relationship between bank and erosion in order to find solutions which may protect sand from the Nha Trang beach facing to the risk of sea level rise.
Dr. Nicolas Gratiot, Scientific Director of the Asian Centre for Research on Water (CARE), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Ms. Tran Hai Yen, PhD student at INP Grenoble (France) involve in the project and in charge of "Modeling of coastal development and coastal erosion".
According to the People's Committee of Nha Trang, this large-scale international project is to support the city to cope with climate changes that increasingly large impact on the landscape and the lives of people. With preliminary results, scientists will propose solutions to improve slope of the beaches to avoid accidental risks to residents and tourists while researching new beaches at northern Nha Trang.
